RoHS & REACH TESTING

RoHS TESTING

RTRC offers global ROHS testing services for restricted substances in electrical equipment & electronic products with high class testing equipment like XRF Screening, GC MS, AAS etc. and expert chemists.

Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliance testing is standard process for sellers and distributors of electrical and electronic products conducting business in the European Market.
The RoHS 1 directive, came into effect on 1 July 2006, was created by the European Union for environmental and human protection. Further development of RoHS Directives, from RoHS 2 to RoHS 10, adds bromo compounds and phthalates depending on the product type.

List of Restricted materials under RoHS:

  • Lead (Pb)
  • Mercury (Hg)
  • Cadmium (Cd)
  • Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+)
  • Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
  • Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
  • Four different phthalates (under RoHS 3)
  • Bis(2-Ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP)
  • Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP)
  • Dibutyl phthalate (DBP)
  • Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP)

Restricted Levels:

  • 1000 ppm (0.1%) maximum for heavy metals (Pb, Hg, Cr+6), bromo compounds (PBB, PBDE) & phthalates (DBP, BBP, DIBP, DEHP).
  • 100 PPM (0.01%) maximum for Cadmium.

REACH TESTING

RTRC established to provide a comprehensive suite of accurate, precise & updated testing facilities to a diverse range of industries across the globe.
RTRC provides you with the detail report informing you if product passed or failed the REACH compliance test.

REACH stands for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals. It enters into force on 1st June, 2007.

REACH applies to all chemical substances; not only those used in industrial processes but also in our day-to-day lives, for example in cleaning products, paints as well as in articles such as clothes, furniture and electrical appliances. Therefore, the regulation has an impact on most companies across the EU.

On 17 January 2023, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) published the REACH Candidate List. Four (9) new Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) were added. Hence, the total number of SVHCs on the Candidate List increases from 224 to 233.

Importance of REACH:

  • Access the European Union Market
  • Saves time testing & money in the house
  • Avoids regulatory fines & litigation
  • Proof that the products are safeguarding the environment & human health

Indian manufacturers or exporters willing to sell the product in the EU market or to European companies in India also tends to clear & pass the same REACH legislation.
