Insulating Oil Testing

STATE-OF-THE-ART TESTING FACILITIES FOR

Insulating Oil Testing

RTRC Limited is accredited as per ISO/IEC 17025:2017 recognized by ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation) signifying international acceptability of test report. Insulating Oil Testing Laboratory offering Insulation Oil Test Services globally in accordance with several national and international standards.

The laboratory has facilities to carry out the following tests on transformer oil as per IS 335:2018/ IS 1866: 2017/IEC 60422:2013.

Testing facilities offered by RTRC:
  • Transformer Oil/Used Oil
Transformer oils surround the core and windings of transformers, preventing wiring and cellulose-based insulation from oxidising, corroding and becoming less effective. With excellent dielectric strength, chemical stability and thermal conductivity, transformer oils circulate between the core and radiators, reducing the temperature of the infrastructure.
  • Ester fluids-Natural & Synthetic ester fluids
Although both mineral oil and ester liquids are now established in the transformer industry, it is important to note that their chemistries are quite different. As such, testing procedures outlined in various standards must be taken into consideration. Even subtle differences between synthetic and natural esters must be considered.

At RTRC we offer a wide range of analytical specification tests, coupled with expert interpretation and reporting systems. Typical testing on transformer units includes

  • Polychlorinated Biphenyls content (PCB)
  • Polycyclic Aromatic compounds (PCA)
  • Furfural and related compounds content (Contamination)
  • Resistivity at 90 °C
  • Metal Passivator additives.
